The Arabia Mountain Heritage Area is in southern Lithonia. This 2,000-acre park serves as a nature reserve for animals and plant species. Visitors may take advantage of Arabia Mountain's hiking trails and observe wildlife such as birds, coyotes, bobcats, white-tail deer and frogs. Some of Arabia Mountain's plants are Georgia oak trees, sunnybells, fringetrees and yellow daisies. Arabia Mountain's two trails are the Spur Trail, a .7-mile pathway, and a 3.85 multi-purpose trail about 1 mile south of the Heritage Area's Nature Center.
The largest indoor shopping center in Lithonia is the The Mall at Stonecrest, which is located just off Interstate 20. On Saturday mornings, the Mall hosts the weekly East Metro Farmers Market at Stonecrest. The Farmers Market features produce and dairy foods grown by farmers in Northern Georgia. The Mall at Stonecrest also has a food court and 16-screen movie theater, and features apparel stores for men, women and children.
Mystery Valley Golf Club is right off Shadow Rock Drive in northern Lithonia. Opened in 1966, Mystery Valley has an 18-hole, par 72 golf course. If golfers sign up on Mystery Valley's eClub, they receive a free round of golf on their birthday. Other facilities at Mystery Valley include its practice driving range, golf pro shop and The Grill Room, the club's onsite restaurant. Mystery Valley is open every day of the week, year round -- even on holidays.
Lithonia is a 20-minute drive south of Stone Mountain Park. The highlight of the park is Stone Mountain, a 1,686-foot tall monadnock – an isolated rock hill or ridge. Park guests are able to reach the top of the mountain by hiking or taking the Summit Skyride cable car. The cable car offers a view of the Confederate Memorial Carving on the side of Stone Mountain and the downtown Atlanta skyline. Other attractions in the park are Stone Mountain Lake, which allows fishing and boating; the Quarry Exhibit; and the Songbird Habitat and Trail.
Located in Conyers, the Georgia International Horse Park is a 25-minute drive east of Lithonia. The Georgia International Horse Park is home to the Grand Prix Stadium and Plaza, an 8,000-seat venue for equestrian competitions, concerts and car shows. Indoor horse shows take place at the Charles C. Walker Arena, which seats approximately 2,500 people. Polo and horse racing fans may watch events at the Park's Steeplechase venue.
