Southern Georgia Attractions

Southern Georgia offers numerous flowing waters and woodlands. It is comprised of towns in the following regions: Plantation Trace, Magnolia Midlands and the Georgia Coast. Southern Georgia stretches from Columbus in the west to Savannah in the east, below Interstate 16. It is home to historic landmarks, plantations and family-friendly attractions.
  1. Wild Adventures Water and Theme Park

    • Wild Adventures Water and Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia, spans 170 acres. It is home to the Splash Island Water Park, over 500 animals, numerous daily shows and various dining options. The theme park is open from March to the first week of January.

    Thomasville Cultural Center

    • The Thomasville Cultural Center, located in a renovated elementary school, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The cultural center provides a variety of 20 art exhibitions from national, regional, international and local artists. In addition, the center includes numerous workshops, lectures and classes for children and adults. The annual Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival takes place at the center in November.

    Chehaw Wild Animal Park

    • Chehaw Wild Animal Park features exhibitions of American bald eagles, zebras, African black rhinos, cheetahs and various other animals. It has a mini-train and petting zoo on the premises. The park is located in Albany, two hours northeast of Valdosta.

    John Dill House

    • The John Dill House, located in Fort Gaines, Georgia, is on the National Register of Historic Places. General John Dill built the home in 1827. Today, the house is a bed and breakfast.
