    • Red Top Mountain State Park sits just seven miles from downtown Cartersville. Built surrounding Allatoona Lake, the park offers up plenty of activities to vacationers. Cyclists will find almost four miles of scenic trails, which skirt the lake at points. Hiking is another attraction, with over 12 miles of trails available for exploration.

      Allatoona Lake itself offers chances for fishing and swimming. Boating is also possible on the lake when water levels permit. The park has seven covered picnic areas with barbecue equipment rental available for a small fee.

    Etowah Indian Mounds

    • The Etowah Indian Mounds archaeological site offers visitors the chance to learn about how the Native American cultures of the area lived over 1,000 years ago. The site has six mounds from which evidence has been excavated to show who lived in the area, what they wore and ate and how they treated their dead.

      At 54 acres, the site is the most complete Mississippian cultural site found in the southeastern U.S. The site is open during the day from Wednesday through Saturday, and visitors get to walk on and around the mounds, visit the on-site museum and peruse the gift shop.

    The Grand Theatre

    • The Grand Theatre was opened in 1929 after being reconstructed from the ruins of a previous theater that burned down in 1923. Since its opening, the theater has produced shows and educational programs for the local community. The theater uses local talent from the Cartersville area to stage performances of popular works such as "Aladdin" and "Anne or Green Gables."
