Chatanooga, Tennessee Campgrounds

Chattanooga is located in Hamilton County in the southeast corner Tennessee, approximately 330 miles east of Memphis and 130 miles southeast of Nashville. Tourists visit the city's many attractions, including the Chattanooga Zoo, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum and Ruby Falls.     • Best Holiday Trav-L-Park is located in the East Ridge neighborhood of Chattanooga. The campground consists of 18 sites reserved for tent camping, five camping cabins and 170 recreational vehicle campsites. The pull-through RV gravel sites can accommodate vehicles up to 70 feet long. Each site offers 30- or 50-amp electric service, plus water, sewer and cable TV hookups. Some tent sites have no hookups, while others have water and electricity.

      Wireless Internet access is available throughout the park, which features a pool, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits and a playground. Other on-site facilities include restrooms, showers, laundry and a sewage waste dump. A store on the property sells groceries, propane, and RV supplies.

      In 2010, rates were $27 to $31 for tent sites and $35 to $37 for RV sites, based on two guests. Children under 6 stay free. Best Holiday Trav-L-Park operates year-round.

    Raccoon Mountain Campground & RV Park

    • Raccoon Mountain Campground & RV Park is located adjacent to Raccoon Caverns, a 5.5-mile network of underground caves. A privately owned Chattanooga attraction, the caverns feature a 45-minute walking tour that is a popular activity for guests staying at the campground. The campground has five rental cabins as well as 21 tent-camping sites without hookups. For RV campers, the campground offers 103 gravel campsites; the largest are 70 feet long. The campground has 56 full electric, water and sewage hookup sites and 47 sites with only electricity and water. Cable TV is available at each campsite, and guests can access wireless Internet throughout the RV park. Campers can use the park's restrooms, showers, sewage waste dump and laundry facilities during their stay. The campground has a swimming pool, an indoor game room and an outdoor playground.

      In 2010, rates were $18 for tent sites and $27 to $33 for RV sites, based on four guests. Cabins started at $29 per night. Raccoon Mountain Campground & RV Park is open all year.

    • Camping World RV Sales & Campground is located on the site of a recreational vehicle dealership located in Chattanooga's East Ridge neighborhood. The campground is adjacent to Shipp's Lake, where campers can fish. Campers can choose from 50 gravel RV campsites, including 39 pull-through sites. Every campsite has electric, water, sewer hookups; cable TV connections are also available. The campground does not permit tent camping. Restrooms, showers, a swimming pool, playground and a sewage waste dump are located on the property. Camping World RV Sales & Campground is open year-round, but facilities may be limited during the winter months.
