TVA Campgrounds in Tennessee

The Tennessee Valley Authority was established during the Great Depression by President Franklin Roosevelt. Today, the TVA operates more than 100 campgrounds throughout the Tennessee Valley. All TVA campgrounds open March 13 and close Nov. 16. The campgrounds are on dams, overlooks and beaches. The campgrounds offer activities such as fishing, swimming, animal viewing and many other outdoor activities.
  1. Douglas Reservoir

    • The Douglas reservoir features the Douglas Dam Headwater Campground. It has 65 campgrounds, and 61 of those campgrounds have water and electricity hook-ups. There are two handicap accessible campgrounds on-site. Restrooms and heated showers are provided by the campground. A dump station is provided for the camper's convenience. Each campground has a picnic table and there is a swimming beach on-site. The campground also offers access to Trotter Bluff Small Wild Life Area, which features many natural wonders.

    Cherokee Reservoir

    • The Cherokee Reservoir features the Cherokee Dam Campground. The Cherokee Dam Campground has 42 campsites that have electrical and water hook-ups. The campground also has heated showers and flush toilets. A dump station and its services are offered on-site at the Cherokee Dam Campground. The campsites feature both a picnic table and a fire pit. A group pavilion that can host events and functions is also available for rent. For activities, the Cherokee Dam Campground has a children's playground, swimming beach, lake fishing, river fishing and bird-watching.

    Foster Falls Campground

    • The Foster Falls Campground has 26 camping sites. Water and electric hook-ups are available and the campsites are handicap accessible. Both heated showers and flush toilets are featured at the Foster Falls Campground. A pavilion can be rented to house group events and features picnic tables, grills, electrical outlets and restrooms. The Foster Falls Campground has access to the Foster Falls Small Wild Area, which features a waterfall and 178 acres of lush foliage.
