Campgrounds in Tellico Plains, Tennessee

Incorporated in 1911, Tellico Plains, Tennessee, is 46 miles southwest of Knoxville and 111 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia. For tourists, the area is home to a number of attractions, such as the Charles Museum, Cherokee National Forest and the Bald River Falls Recreation Area. Visitors to Tellico Plains have a wide variety of accommodations to choose from throughout their stay, including a number of campgrounds for recreational vehicle, cabin or tent camping.
  1. Tellico Plains KOA

    • Open from mid-March through mid-November Tellico Plains KOA is a private campground facility. The campground offers a number of sites specifically for camping in tents as well as one and two-bedroom cabins. Also featured are 102 recreational vehicle camping sites large enough to accommodate vehicles as large as 90 feet in length. Seventy-one of the sites have full water, electric and sewage hookups, and the remaining sites offer only water and electricity. A waste dump is available on-site as well. Basic cable and wireless Internet are accessible at every campsite. For guests' convenience, the campground offers showers, restrooms and laundry facilities as well as a store that carries RV supplies and firewood. Recreational facilities include a swimming pool, playground, volleyball court and horseshoe pits. The Tellico River flows through the campground and is a popular spot for fishing and whitewater rafting.

    Hunt's Motorcycle Campground

    • Catering to traveling bikers, Hunt's Lodge Motorcycle Campground offers five 15-person cabins and two acres of tent camping sites. Wireless Internet is available throughout the campground. Hot showers, restrooms and laundry facilities are located on-site as well as ice machines. A limited number of gas grills and plastic foam coolers are available for guests' use. A fire pit and a pavilion are also available for rental with advance reservations. Although many of the guests are motorcyclists, the campground also welcomes hunters, ATV riders and bicyclists. Campers may stay at Hunt's in recreational vehicles, but there are no hookups available.

    Indian Boundary Campgrounds at Cherokee National Forest

    • Cherokee National Forest is a federally sponsored public wilderness area that covers 650,000 acres over 10 counties in Tennessee. One of the national forest's campgrounds, Indian Boundary, is located in Tellico Plains. The park can accommodate 91 recreational vehicles in its sites, which measure 15 feet by 32 feet. Only 25 of these sites have electrical hookups. No water or sewer service is available at the park, but showers, restrooms and a waste dump are provided. Boundary Lake is located at the campground for fishing and swimming. A boating ramp is also featured on the lake. The campground is open from April through October. There is a 14-day maximum stay at the forest.
