Murphy, Georgia is located in Colquitt County. Set amongst more than 20 lakes, this area lends itself for camping. With average summer highs in the low 90's Fahrenheit, and nights in the 70's and winter temperatures between 60 and 40 degrees, the temperatures will be comfortable even for those camping in traditional tents.
  1. Reed Bingham State Park

    • Be on the lookout for bald eagles as they are often spotted in the Reed Bingham State Park.

      Just 24.5 miles from Murphy, Reed Bingham State Park is located in Adel, Georgia. Both tent and RV campers are welcome in this state park set on 1,613 acres.

      There is no shortage of wildlife, as spotted turtles, bald eagles, vultures all call the park home. During certain weekends in the year children can even join the park rangers for a day of exploration, advanced registration is required.

      Those with a love of water activities will want to take advantage of the 375-acre lake at Reed Bingham State Park. Fish for bass, catfish and bream, ski, boat, canoe or kayak. Pontoon boat tours are also available at certain scheduled times. Other activities include miniature golf, bicycle rentals and hiking. There is also a playground for the little ones.

      Nearby attractions include the Banks Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Wild Adventures Theme Park and the Memorial Golf Course at Georgia Vets.

    Sugar Mill Park

    • Challenge friends or family to a game of pool at the Sugar Mill RV Park

      Sugar Mill RV Park, located 23.5 miles from Murphy, in Ochlocknee, Georgia is a full service RV park and campground. The park is on a 54-acre plantation that provides a laundry facility, propane for sale, restrooms with showers and a swimming pool. Other amenities include free wireless Internet, cable TV, a pool table, three stocked fishing ponds and horseshoes.

      Sugar Mill is just north of the historic town of Thomasville, Georgia which has many of the area's finest plantations open for public tours. Downtown Thomasville is also full of dining, art galleries and shopping. For those not interested in shopping, they may be happy to know there is also a public golf course as well.

    City of Roses RV Park

      The City of Roses RV Park is located just 24 miles outside of Murphy, in Thomasville, Georgia. Offering both RV sites to accommodate any size motor-home, as well as space for tents, it is pet friendly. Just remember to keep the furry friends on a leash. City of Roses has a phone, laundry, bathrooms, and a kitchen with stove and refrigerator for its guests. Cable TV is available as is shuffleboard and horseshoes. If desiring a day out in town the park employees can arrange historic tours from the camp. An 100-person pavilion is also available on the grounds.
