The Oconee National Forest has over 118,000 acres with campsites, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and over 15 miles of trails for all-terrain vehicles. There is campground camping, dispersed camping, group camping and RV sites available. Most of the hiking trails are near recreation areas. The forest sits on Lake Sinclair which has swimming, fishing and boating possibilities. For a scenic canoe trip, paddle down the Oconee River.

Lawrence Shoals Park offers boating, camping, hiking, fishing and swimming in its recreational area. Camping season varies from year to year, but is usually from February to November. The park has 49 campsites with water and electric, 15 paved campsites and 34 back-in campsites. This park has restrooms, showers, a laundry facility, public phone and handicap access. The park is located on Lake Oconee. Park amenities include horseshoes, a playground, recreational field and pavilion.

Oconee Springs Park is a family campground located on Lake Sinclair. It is open year-round, and amenities include RV sites, bathhouses, showers, picnic tables, barbecue grills, dump station, water and garbage pickup. This park has a beach with a swimming area, boat dock, coin-operated laundry facility and cable TV. The Little Rooster Country Store is also in the park and has picnic supplies, ice, charcoal, live bait, gasoline and sundries. This campground has 37 RV sites and four cabins available to rent for an overnight stay.

Crooked Creek Marina is located on Lake Sinclair. The marina has a boat dock and ramp, picnic tables, RV sites with hookups as well as campsites. This campground has nine RV sites and plenty of places for tent camping. Crooked Creek Marina also has a restaurant called Bone Island Grill on the property, which offers live music, drinks and food on the lakefront. Boat storage is available at the marina.
