Campgrounds in the Carrollton, Georgia Area

A city in the west-central part of Georgia, Carrollton is approximately a one-hour drive west of Atlanta. It is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and had a population of over 23,000 people in 2008, according to city-data.com. Although Carrollton itself is a small city, plenty of campgrounds and outdoor activities can be found in the area. Other attractions near Carrollton include the Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park and the Georgia Aquarium.
  1. Sweet Water Valley Park

    • A 15-minute drive to the north of Carrollton, Sweet Water Valley Park in Villa Rica sits along the banks of Sweet Water Creek and has 36 shaded sites. On the grounds are a bath house, dump station, picnic tables, laundry facility, playground and hiking trails. The campground has RV pull-through sites with 30- and 50-amp electrical service Guests can also take advantage of outdoor kitchen facilities. Golfers might want to stay here as well. The park has a small driving range and a Tom Fazio-designed golf course known as "The Frog'' is only five minutes away.

    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

    • Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park is in Bremen, 13 miles north of Carrollton. This is a popular place to take the kids. Recreational activities include playgrounds, miniature golf, an outdoor pool and planned activities for children such as hay rides and train rides. A bath house, store and laundry room are also located in the park. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park has both RV and tent sites. All of the sites have water and electric, while the RV sites also have sewer. Visitors can also opt to stay in cabins.

    John Tanner State Park

    • The John Tanner State Park is in Carrollton and offers campers the choice of 31 RV and tent sites. There are plenty of recreational activities available, including hiking trails, swimming, a miniature golf course and fishing in the park's lake. Picnic areas, a dump station, a laundry room, playgrounds and bath houses are all in the park. The camping sites come with water, electric and and cable TV. The park has a lodge that can accommodate groups and six units near the lake's beach that have bedrooms and kitchens.
