Coos Bay, OR Area Campgrounds

The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, within the greater Oregon Bay area, is located along the southern part of the coastline of Oregon. The port district supports commercial shipping and fishing enterprises, and provides southern Oregon tourism industry with recreational activities such as boating, fishing and camping. The communities of Coos Bay, Oregon, and neighboring Charleston and North Bend, offer lodging, dining and marina facilities. Full-service modern campgrounds, RV parks and state park camping facilities can be found along the Coos Bay area's bayfront, tall cliffs and sprawling sand dune ridges.
  1. Lucky Loggers RV Park

    • Public golfing, sand dune exploration and crab catching are accessible to guests of Lucky Loggers RV Park (no website; 250 E. Johnson Ave., Coos Bay; 541-267-6003) in the south end of Coos Bay. Guests can watch the loaded commercial fishing and cargo vessels maneuver out of the vessel turning basin's narrow confines and sail towards the open Pacific Ocean waters. An on-site RV supply store is available with both replacement equipment and camping sundries. Pull-through or back-in campsites include 30- or 50-amp electrical, plus water and sewer hookups. Retail and grocery is available within walking distance, and casino shuttles to Lucky Loggers Casino run every two hours.

    Sunset Bay State Park Campground

    • Sunset Bay State Park Campground (oregonstateparks.com) offers bay-side campsites great for tenting enthusiasts and RV and travel trailer owners less than 10 minutes southwest of Coos Bay. All 129 Sunset Bay campsites and eight permanent yurts offer easy access to the park's sandy beaches and cliff-side hiking trails, which link up to nearby Cape Arago and Shore Acres State Parks. Electric and water or electric only hookups accommodate 63 of the individual sites, and amenities available to all campers include a boat ramp, modern shower house and handicap facilities. Public golfing is available adjacent to the park. In 2011, Prime season runs from May through September annually while Discovery season offers off-season discounts from October to April.

    Alder Acres RV Park

    • Located five minutes north of Coos Bay, privately-owned Alder Acres RV Park (alderacres.com) is a family operated RV-only camping park where each of its 88 paved sites offers either 20-, 30- or 50-amp electrical hookups, as well as cable TV and free wireless Internet. This pet-friendly park offers vacationers extended stay rates ideal for the traveler spending an entire season in the Coos Bay area, and reservations are taken by phone 24-hours a day. A clubhouse is available for gatherings, and maintained shower house and laundry facilities are available to all registered guests.

    Charleston Marina RV Park

    • Boaters seeking closer access to the outer Pacific Coast while still enjoying the Oregon Bay area can check into the Charleston Marina RV Park (charlestonmarina.com) in Charleston, Oregon. Located ten minutes west of Coos Bay on the western side of the peninsula, the park is an ideal base camp for marlin fishing expeditions and whale watching excursions. Boatslip rentals are available for an extra fee for registered campers. All 100 full-hookup campsites include electricity, water, satellite TV and sewage. Two group-size yurts can be reserved, and park amenities include a laundromat, crab cooking facility, wireless Internet and RV or boat storage. Weekly and monthly discounts are available for RVers year round in 2011.
