Campgrounds in Northeast Georgia

    • Amicalola Falls State Park Campground boasts a 729-foot-tall waterfall and 829 miles of green areas and hiking trails through scenic mountains. A lodge is centrally located near the campground and offers hot meals and social activities. Strap on your hiking boots and begin on a trek at Springer Mountain, which leads to the Appalachian Trail. The campground offers 25 camping sites that are leashed pet- friendly. Four picnic shelters offer a chance to enjoy a meal in the great outdoors beneath a shady covering. Additional amenities at the Amicalola Falls State Park Campground include mountain biking trails, bird watching areas, disc golf courses and fishing and boat rentals.

    Black Rock Mountain State Park

    • Black Rock Mountain State Park offers 44 campsites, two picnic shelters and the Pioneer Group Camping area. Campers can select from secluded primitive campsites as well as tent and RV sites near the center of state park's Welcome Center. Don't forget to pack your rappelling gear to maneuver down the tall cliffs that encompass this northeast Georgia state park. Scenic lookout areas offer picturesque views of the Appalachian mountain range and hiking trail. A visitor's center offers outdoor learning programs, special events and regional tourism information. Park hiking trails wind around the nearly 2,000-acre state park and past a 17-acre lake. Pack some charcoal and grilling tools if you want to cook the bass, trout, perch or catfish you can catch in the lake.

    Andrews Cove Campground

    • Andrews Cove Campground, located in the heart of the Oconee National Forest offers 10 camping sites. The sites each feature picnic tables, tent pads, lanterns and charcoal grills. Andrew Cove Trail offers 2 miles of rugged hiking trails that lead to Andrews Creek and an Appalachian Trail access point. Anglers will delight with the opportunity to catch both brown and rainbow trout at Andrews Creek. The waterway flows into Spolcane Creek in the extended area of Andrews Cove Recreation Area.
