State of Florida Campgrounds

Trees loaded with oranges. Crocodiles swimming in swamps. Walking on miles of white, sandy beaches. Children of all ages visiting the Magic Kingdom. The oldest settlements inhabited by Europeans in what is now the United States. This is Florida, also known as the Sunshine State, and one of the few states bordered by two large bodies of water: the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Gulf of Mexico on the west.
  1. Anastasia State Park

    • Anastasia State Park is located on central Florida's east coast at St. Augustine, the oldest town in the United States. The park is close to the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, an early Spanish fortress. Anastasia State Park is 1,600 acres, has four miles of beach and a tidal salt marsh. The park has 139 campsites all just a short walk from the beach. The campsites can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet long; a dump station is onsite. All sites have water and electricity, grills and picnic tables. There is also a library for kids. The park has beach wheelchairs available to disabled campers.

    Big Lagoon State Park

    • Big Lagoon State Park is located at Pensacola in the Florida Panhandle. It's a good place to watch birds during the spring and fall migration seasons. Besides bird watching, the park offers canoeing, swimming, hiking and fishing. This state park, on the Gulf of Mexico, has 75 campsites that can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet long. Sites have water, electricity, picnic tables and fire rings, and the park has restrooms and a dump station.

    John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

    • Located at Key Largo, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the first undersea park in the United States. This park is popular with scuba divers and snorkelers who want close-up views of the coral reefs spread over the park's 70 nautical square miles. John Pennekamp is one of five Florida state parks where boat camping is allowed. The park's marina has boat slips and moorings with water and electrical hookups; the rental fee includes full use of park facilities; restrooms and showers are nearby. The boat camping fee includes full use of park facilities, including dump station. John Pennekamp also has a land campground that is accessible for handicapped visitors.
