Florida State Parks With Campgrounds

Camping is big in Florida, particularly during the colder months when people from northern states flock to the state to get some sunshine and warmth. Although Florida is loaded with private RV parks, it also has an extensive state park system with campgrounds that accommodate RVs. These state park campgrounds might not have as many amenities, but the very positive flip side is they are in much more pristine areas.
  1. Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area

    • The Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area, located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, was named for a folk singer from Florida named Gamble Rogers. Its beach, where visitors can swim, sunbath and fish, is the park's main attraction, although the park also offers plenty of wildlife viewing. Picnic tables and a nature trail are two more features in a park located in the northeast part of the state.

Gamble Rogers has a full-service campground located on a dune above the Atlantic Ocean. The campground, which has a boardwalk that leads to the beach, is equipped with sites that all come with water, electricity, a picnic table and a fire ring. The sites can handle RVs up to 45 feet. A dump station is on the grounds and free to campers.

Visitors can also camp in tents at a campground that has restrooms and showers.

    Bahia Honda State Park

    • The Bahia Honda State Park, located approximately at the midway part of the Florida Keys, draws campers for its beaches and sunsets along with its snorkeling, fishing, swimming and picnicking opportunities.

Fishermen can launch boats from the park's boat ramp, as well as fish from the shore. Wildlife viewing is also big at the Bahia Honda State Park.

Visitors have the option of staying at campsites or in cabins. Three different campgrounds, called Buttonwood, Sandspur and Baysid,e are in the park. Buttonwood has sites that can handle both RVs and tents. The sites all have electricity, water, a picnic table and a grill. Restrooms with showers and a dump station are also at Buttonwood.

Sandspur has smaller sites than Buttonwood that come with a a picnic table, grill and water. RV's more than 14 feet are not allowed and there is no dump station.

Bayside is the smallest of the campground with eight sites. These sites have a picnic table, grill, water and a restroom nearby.

Collier-Seminole State Park's main campground has 120 sites for RVs and tents. The campground has water and electric hook-ups as well as restrooms, showers and an activity center.
