Tugaloo State Park has 105 campsites that accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There also are five primitive tent sites. Located about 5 miles from Lavonia, the park covers 393 acres that include 4 miles of hiking trails. Other activities within the park include miniature golf, two boat ramps, volleyball pits, tennis courts and canoe rental. The word Tugaloo is Native American for a river that was in the area before Lake Hartwell was developed.

Located approximately 6 miles from Lavonia, Lake Hartwell State Recreation area offers campsites convenient to the shore of Lake Hartwell. The 680-acre park has hiking, a park store, fishing and camping. Bass, crappie and catfish make their homes in the waters of Lake Hartwell. There are 115 sites for RV and tents that include concrete pads, water and electricity. There are 13 designated tent spots considered walk-in sites. Hot showers and restrooms are near the sites and a dump station is available. Camping reservations must be made for two nights.

The Hart State Outdoor Recreation Area is 12 miles from Lavonia. Located on the south side of Lake Hartwell, Hart offers electricity and water at all 78 campsites, along with sewage connections at some. Hot showers and a dumping station are also convenient. Camping is done in a self-registration style, on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no store at the park, creating a primitive feel even with the electricity and water. Although the park is relatively small, there is a 1.5-mile hiking and biking trail, as well as opportunities for fishing and boating.
