Campgrounds Near Ludlow, Vermont

For people who are interested in camping in New England, Vermont offers many fine choices. Located in southern Vermont, the town of Ludlow has many campgrounds nearby, and is within an hour's drive of parts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and eastern New York.
  1. Hideaway Squirrel Hill Campground

    • Located directly in Ludlow, Hideaway Squirrel Hill Campground is open from the middle of May through the middle of October, and offers 24 sites, including nine with water and electric hookups, four with water, electric, and sewer hookups, and 13 overnight sites. Campers will find picnic tables, fire rings (with firewood available), a play area, a shower house with free hot showers, and flushing toilets. Restaurants, golf courses, horseback riding, and swimming are all available nearby.

    Silver Lake State Park

    • Taking up the northern shoreline of Silver Lake, Silver Lake State Park is made up of former farms donated to the state. Amenities for campers include 40 tent/trailer sites, seven lean-to sites, two restrooms with running water and hot showers, a large picnic shelter, a play area, and a sanitary dumping station for trailers. Along the beach, the park offers a food concession, restrooms, changing rooms, and rentals for canoes and boats. The park is open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

    Ascutney State Park Campground

    • Ascutney State Park is a park in the Vermont State Park system. Built in the 1930s as a Civilian Conservation Corps project, the park now spans about 2,000 acres in Windsor. There are 39 tent/trailer sites, and 10 lean-to sites in the park, with plumbing, hot showers and a sanitary dump station for RVs available. The park also has hiking trails and picnic areas. The park opens from mid-May to mid-October.

    Coolidge State Park

    • Named after President Calvin Coolidge, who was born nearby, Coolidge State Park is the recreation area of Calvin Coolidge State Forest. The park has 36 lean-to sites and 26 tent/trailer sites, along with five restrooms (two of which have hot showers), two large picnic shelters, a picnic area, a play area, and a sanitary dump station for RVs. Campers in Coolidge State Park can enjoy recreational activities like hiking, volleyball, swimming, boating and fishing. The park is open from Memorial Day weekend to Columbus Day weekend.
