Sterling State Park is the only state park on Lake Erie. This 1,300-acre park offers 256 campsites, including full hookup sites and electric-only sites. Designated sites have 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric. Facilities include a picnic shelter, showers, restrooms and a playground. Campers have access to 6 miles of trails, a beach, boat launch and fishing lagoon. Activities include shore fishing, biking and hiking. Tent campsites cost $24 per night and full hookup campsites cost $33 per night. The campground is open year-round, however, access is limited when it snows.

The 2,789-acre Lake Hudson Recreational Area sits amidst a hardwood forest near the lake. This area offers a semi-modern campground with 50 campsites, a dumpster, picnic shelters, vault toilet and water pump. The campground is open throughout the year, however, there is limited access during snowy weather. Activities include swimming, boat launching, Muskie fishing, game hunting and metal detecting. Guests can catch Muskie, bass and walleye in the lake, and the hunting area has an array of game, such as pheasants, rabbits and waterfowl. In addition, the lake area is a designated dark sky preserve for educating people about the nighttime sky. The campsite fee is $16 per day.

Pinckney-Bruin Lake campground is a part of the 11,000-acre Pinckney State Recreational Area. This campground offers 186 sites campsites with electricity. Facilities include a boat launch, restrooms, volleyball court and a playground. Campers may rent a boat or launch personal boats at the boat launch. Activities include throwing horseshoes, fishing and swimming. Pinckney State Recreational includes more than 20 miles of trails for mountain biking, hiking and cross-county skiing. The camping cost is $16 per site when the water is off, typically, in the winter; otherwise, the fee is $24. The campground is open all year-round with limited access in snowy weather.
