Harrisville State Park is located along Lake Huron in a wooded setting of pine and cedar trees and is one of Michigan's oldest state parks. The recreational area features 195 modern campsites with electrical service and some sites with 50-amp RV hookups. The campground has modern restrooms and access to the Harrisville-Cedar Run Nature Trail. Other park amenities include a playground, picnic shelter, swimming beach and Michigan State Park Explorer programs. The park is walking distance to the city of Harrisville, with shopping and dining opportunities and special events. The campground is also close to Sturgeon Point Lighthouse.

Paul Bunyan Kampground is located in Spruce, Michigan, in the northeast corner of Alcona County between Lake Huron and Hubbard Lake. The campground features 80 campsites, 50 of which are pull-through. Some sites have electrical and water hookups, and 19 sites have sewer hookups. All campsites include a picnic table and fire pit. Other campground amenities include laundry facilities, a dump station, LP gas, restrooms, showers, a camp store, recreation hall and swimming pool. Seasonal campsites are also available.

Alcona Canoe Rental and Campground offers canoe, kayak, tube and raft trips down the AuSable River, as well as camping. The area offers many wildlife viewing opportunities along with water recreation. The campground accommodates tent campers and small pop-up trailers. The 18 sites are rustic while the campground features modern restrooms, laundry facilities and a convenience store. A refundable security deposit is required for each campsite. Modern cabins and rustic camping cabins are available for rent.

McCollum Lake State Forest Campground has 20 campsites for tents and small trailers. Eleven sites accommodate trailers or vehicles up to 40 feet long. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump. Sites are available first-come, first-serve. The state forest provides campers with access to McCollum Lake, which features a small beach, picnic area and canoeing and fishing opportunities.
