Ludington State Park is located on 5,300 acres of land between Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake in western Mason County. The park offers miles of shoreline, sand dunes, forest land, ponds and marshes. There are three modern campgrounds within the state park. They are Pines, Cedar and Beechwood campgrounds. A fourth Jack Pine campground is rustic with 10 hike-in-only sites.
Pines is the smallest of the modern campgrounds with 99 sites. It offers electrical service, modern restrooms and mini-cabin rental.
Cedar campground has 106 sites, both rustic and modern, plus a mini-cabin. Amenities include modern restrooms and electrical service.
Beechwood is the largest campground with 147 modern sites and a mini-cabin. Amenities include 50-amp hookups, electrical service and modern restrooms.
The park offers visitors boat rentals, biking, hiking, hunting and fishing, swimming, boating and canoeing, a visitor's center, concessions store, picnic areas and wildlife watching opportunities.

Scottville Riverside Park is ideal for those who want to get away from beach crowds and and take advantage of hiking or cross-country ski trails. The campground is located in Scottville in the center of Mason County. The park is situated along the Pere Marquette River, and groomed trails wind through surrounding marshland. The campground has 50 sites that are both primitive and with full hookups. Other amenities include bathrooms and showers, a pool, fishing pier and pavilion with picnic tables.
Two trails allow walkers and hikers to take in the local nature and wildlife. The Bottomland Trail is a 1.5-mile loop through marshland, and the 1-mile non-loop River Walk follows the Pere Marquette River.

Cartier Park Campground is located in western Mason County near Lincoln Lake, but not far from Lake Michigan. The campground has sites that offer full hookups with 50 amps, full hookups with 20 to 30 amps, electrical hookups only and an entire section of 90 rustic sites. Some campsites have a water view of Lincoln Lake. Amenities at the campground include a modern bathhouse, camp store, picnic gazebo, two fishing docks and a small boat ramp. Activities available are boating, fishing, biking on the paved path, hiking, playing sand volleyball and basketball and playing on the playground equipment. Cartier Park Campground is one mile from Lake Michigan beaches and downtown Ludington, and four miles from Ludington State Park.
