Campgrounds in Isabella County, Michigan

Isabella County is located at the heart of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The county is home to Central Michigan University, Soaring Eagle Casino, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe reservation and several small lakes and rivers for fishing and recreation. The county is mostly rural land, making camping there a true getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
  1. Deerfield Nature Park

    • Deerfield Nature Park is a county park located in Mount Pleasant, Isabella County's largest city. The park offers outdoor activities for day visitors, and there are 10 rustic, remote campsites accessible by hiking or canoeing on the Chippewa River. The only amenity the campground offers is a hand pump for water. Campsites cost $20 per night.

      Recreation at Deerfield Nature Park includes eight miles of trails for hiking and biking, fishing in the Chippewa River, canoeing and small boating, an 18-hole disc golf course, a sandy beach for swimming, sand volleyball courts and horseshoe pits. In winter, trails are groomed for cross-country skiing and hills are ideal for sledding. Park amenities include four pavilions, picnic tables, bridges and an artesian well. The park hosts an annual Civil War re-enactment that draws visitors.

    Salt River Acres

    • Salt River Acres is a camping and event facility on the east side of Isabella County. Campsites include water and electricity hookups, modern bathrooms, showers, ice machine, walk-in cooler, commercial kitchen and a children's playground. Sites should be reserved in advance, especially during event weekends. Salt River Acres has two outdoor stages, one indoor stage, sound equipment and a staging area to host music concerts.

      The location is rural and rustic, and goes hand-in-hand with Salt River Acres' annual bluegrass festival that features more than 15 bands. The camp also hosts an annual Rock-n-Reggae festival that draws from the large college student population at Central Michigan University.

    Coldwater Lake Family Park

    • Coldwater Lake Family Park is a county park located in the center of Isabella County. The campground has 95 modern campsites and five rustic cabins for rent. Eight sites are pull-through for large RVs or trailers. Amenities include water hookup at each site, a dump station, pavilions and modern restrooms that are handicap accessible. Campsites cost $20 per night for county residents, $25 for non-residents. Monthly rates are available.

      Recreation at the park, which is situated on Coldwater Lake, includes boating, swimming, fishing, playing or lounging on the sand beach area, volleyball, horseshoes and a "Western" themed playground for children.
