Jackson County, in southeast Michigan, is an area full of outdoor attractions like lakes, rivers and forests. The county has a rich history as well. The city of Jackson played a role in the Underground Railroad and the Civil War, and museums are located throughout the county. Other popular activities in Jackson County include golfing, hunting and fishing, biking, hiking, boating and camping.
  1. Greenwood Acres Family Campground

    • Greenwood Acres Family Campground is a large camping park on Goose Lake, just east of Jackson. The campground has 1,160 campsites, though about 700 of those sites are typically occupied seasonally. Campsites offer either full hookups or water and electric hookups and accommodate RVs of all sizes and tents. Lakefront sites are available around the outer edges of the campground. Pets are allowed on a leash. Amenities at Greenwood Acres include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, an RV dump station, a playground, cafe, swimming pool, boat launch, horseshoe pits and a recreation area with a carousel, miniature golf course and tennis courts. A nine-hole golf course on the grounds is free to seasonal and overnight guests. Goose Lake is a private lake with a beach area at the campground. Boating is permitted, but only at slow speeds. Greenwood Acres hosts family activities and events on weekends throughout the camping season.

    Pleasant Lake County Park and Campground

    • Pleasant Lake County Park and Campground is located on Pleasant Lake in northern Jackson County. The 22-acre park has 60 campsites, all with water and electricity, for RVs and tents. Campground amenities include modern restrooms, showers, an RV dump station, a swimming area, bike trail, playground and picnic areas. Pets are allowed on a leash. Alcohol is not permitted.

      Pleasant Lake County Park and Campground is within a half-mile of an 18-hole golf course, and within a half-hour drive of Jackson.

    Hideaway RV Park

    • Hideaway RV Park is located in Grass Lake on the east side of Jackson County. It is near highway access and Waterloo State Recreation Area. Hideaway offers 56 wooded campsites on grounds that are secluded and provide wildlife watching opportunities. Sites at the RV park are pull-through with full hookups and 30- and 50-amp service. Activities at Hideaway RV Park include swimming, fishing on a 2-acre lake and hiking on three walking trails.

      The park is within a half-hour drive of Jackson, golf courses and Waterloo State Recreation Area, which features a beach, boat launch, hiking and nature trails and equestrian trails.
