Campgrounds in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota

Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, boasts more than 100 lakes where you can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and rafting. Kandiyohi County campgrounds offer tent camping under the stars. Several of these campgrounds are located in state or county parks, surrounded by prairies and filled with local wildlife. You and your family can enjoy a day on the water or walking along trails that wind through the county.
  1. Sibley State Park

    • Sibley State Park is located in New London, Minnesota, on property with a mixture of forest, farmland, prairies and lakes. In the park, the Lakeview and Oak Ridge campgrounds feature 132 drive-in campsites (sites where you can park your vehicles) that accommodate tents and up to 70-foot RVs. Lakeview campsites are near a well-shaded lake and have electric hookups, while Oak Ridge offers both wooded and open sites. The three group campsites only allow tents. Site one accommodates 30 people and sites two and three accommodates 50. Select sites have horse hitches. Group sites feature fire rings, picnic tables, running water and toilets. You may swim, boat, fish or canoe on area lakes. The park has hiking, bike and horse trails; picnic shelters, volleyball courts and horseshoes pits.

    Hide-Away Campground

    • The Hide-Away Campground is on the southwestern shore of Long Lake, in New London. Its 41 campsites accommodate tent and RV campers and feature picnic tables, fire rings and shaded areas. Restrooms and showers are near the camping areas. On-site activities include paddle boating, rafting, swimming, fishing, tennis, volleyball and horseshoes. You can reserve a slip at the boat dock. The campsite is a mile away from the Glacial Lakes State Trail, where you can participate in year-round activities including hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding and in-line skating. The trail meanders through wetlands, and whitetail deer, birds and butterflies can frequently be seen. The Glacial Lakes Trail also connects to Sibley State Park.

    Kandiyohi County Parks

    • The Kandiyohi County Parks system maintains six parks on freshwater lakes that allow camping, offering a total of more than 290 campsites with Internet access. The parks system supplies electricity, showers, toilets and dump stations. Lakes include Big Kandiyohi, Diamond, Green and Games and are stocked with crappy, walleye and bullhead. The campgrounds feature boat ramps, playgrounds, picnic areas, boat rentals, swimming beaches, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and wooded walking trails. The properties have grocery stores which sell supplies, foods, bait and firewood. The parks also have fueling stations. Park Five offers guided fishing tours. Call the Parks Department for specific amenities provided by each campground.
