Rochester is located in the southeastern part of Minnesota, amid scenic woodlands, parks and rivers. A variety of campgrounds in and around the city caters to all types of campers. From those who enjoy sleeping in tents among evergreens to those who relax in their RVs or cabins and watch cable, there is a campsite for everyone near Rochester.
Recently under new management, Ferguson’s Willow Creek Campground located four miles off Interstate 90 offers tent and RV sites with full hookups and cabins. Amenities include hot showers, clean bathrooms, coin operated washer and dryer, camping supplies, and volleyball and badminton areas.
Rates are based on four people with one tent or trailer. Additional people and tents cost slightly more. For those folks who do not like to rough it, there are cabins available. Reservations can be made with a credit card and require a refundable deposit equal to one night's stay.

The Rochester/Marion area has a family-owned and operated 25-acre Kampground of America (KOA) that offers visitors a variety of luxuries and leisurely activities nearby. Guests can choose from tent sites, RV sites or cabins with one or two rooms. Luxuries include a store, swimming pool, hot showers, clean restrooms and seasonal group activities. There are numerous trails nearby for hiking or cycling, including Douglas Trail, Root River State Trail and Silver Lake Park. The largest cave in Minnesota, Mystery Cave, is located nearby in the Forestville State Park. The cave features 12 miles of handicapped accessible tunnels and is open from Labor Day through Memorial Day.

This campground has no tent sites, but is ideal for RV campers. Back-in and pull-through sites offer 30- to 50-amp electric. Rates include wireless Internet access, water, sewer, electric, patio and cable. Discounted sites do not have a patio or cable and Internet access. For large groups, rally sites have access to a large rally room with a sink, refrigerator, freezer and counters. All campers have access to clean restrooms, hot showers and laundry in a secured environment. Autumn Woods is near the Mayo Clinic, golf courses and within minutes of both restaurants and grocery stores. The park is open February 15 through November 30.

Chester Woods Park is a Minnesota State Park located on scenic Bear Creek seven miles east of Rochester. Like all state parks, Chester Woods charges a fee for entrance to the park whether or not you choose to camp. The campground is open from May 14 through October 9 and offers guests canoeing, fishing, paddle boats, a beach and annual turkey hunt. The park is teeming with wildlife, from wild turkeys to whitetail deer. The park features a bike and hiking trail system and playground.
