The Kandiyohi County Park # 1 is a county-run public facility that is located on the western side of Big Kandiyohi Lake and 10 miles south of Willmar. The lake is known for its walleye, bullhead and crappie fishing. The campground in the park has 94 campsites that come with electric connections. Sewer and water hook-ups for RVs are not available, but the campground does have a dump station, showers and restrooms. Facilities in the park include a swimming beach, a boat launch, a camp store with fishing bait, a game room, a playground and a picnic area with a shelter. Boats are also available for rent and gas can be purchased in the park.

Monson Lake State Park is situated in Sunburg, which is approximately 20 miles to the northwest of Willmar. The park has 20 drive-in sites that can accommodate RVs up to 70 feet. The sites do not have any hook-ups, but showers and restrooms are located at the campground. Vault toilets are scattered around the park. Recreational facilities in the park include a picnic area with tables, fire rings, a horseshoe pit and a large open area for sports. A stone picnic shelter is also available that has electricity and a large fireplace. The shelter is handicapped accessible. Visitors can also take advantage of a fishing pier on Monson Lake. The park has There are 1.2 miles of hiking trails that provide views of two lakes and wildlife.

Sibley State Park is near the town of New London and around 15 minutes from the Willmar. The park has two different campgrounds, which have a combined 132 camping sites that can handle RVs up to 70 feet. Of those sites, 53 are equipped with electric hook-ups. A dump station, restrooms and showers are located in the park, which also has cabins, tent sites and an area for group camping. The cabins sleep up to six people, have heat and are open throughout the year. Restrooms are located near the cabins. The park has 18 miles of hiking trails, nearly two miles of bicycle trails and seven miles of paths for horse riding. Guests can fish and swim in the park's three lakes.
