Campgrounds in Shakopee, Minnesota

Incorporated in 1857, Shakopee, Minnesota is approximately five miles south of Eden Prairie and 17 miles south west of Minneapolis. The town is popular with tourists because it is home to Valleyfair Amusement Park and the Soak Zone waterpark as well as for its annual fairs and festivals like the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and the Mid-America Festival. Visitors to the Shakopee can find a variety of accommodations in the town and the surrounding areas, including campgrounds.

    • Shakopee Valley RV Park features 103 campsites for recreational vehicles. Sixty-eight of these spots have full hookups with the remaining 35 offering water and electric only. The majority of the sites are back-ins, measuring 35 feet by 30 feet. The pull-throughs are 35 feet by 45 feet. Wireless Internet is available in some parts of the campground. The park provides restrooms, showers, laundry facilities and a waste dump. A small camp store sell basic groceries, RV supplies and firewood on-site. The Minnesota River runs through the property for fishing, and the park has an in-ground pool. Additional recreational facilities include biking and hiking trails, a game room and a playground. The campground is open May through mid-October. Daily and monthly rates are available.

    Dakotah Meadows RV Park

    • Located in nearby Prior Lake, Dakotah Meadows RV Park is seven miles southeast of Shakopee. The campground received the "Best Campground in the Midwest" award from the readers of "Midwest Gaming & Travel" magazine each year from 2004 through 2009. For campers, the park offers five tipis and 122 paved RV campsites. The sites can accommodate vehicles up to 60 feet in length and consist primarily of pull-throughs. All of the sites have full hookups and wireless Internet access. Restrooms, showers and coin-operated washers and driers are available for guests. The campground also offers a waste dump, RV-washing station and fueling station on-site. The camp store sells firewood, snacks, beverages and souvenirs. Campers can enjoy the heated pool and hot tub as well as a playground for children. The park is open year-round. All rates are nightly.

    Fish Lake Acres Campground

    • Also located in Prior Lake, Fish Lake Acres Campground is 14 miles from Shakopee. The park offers 50 campsites for tents and 143 spots for recreational vehicles. Ninety-three of the RV sites have either electric and water or full hookups, while the remaining sites provide rustic camping with no electricity, water or sewage. Located near the campsites, Fish Lake has a sandy beach for swimming and is a popular fishing spot for panfish, bass and walleye. A cleaning area is available for those lucky enough to catch something. There is also a launch into the lake for boating. Amenities and recreational facilities provided by the camp include restrooms, showers, a snack bar, nature trails, an indoor game-room and a snack bar. The park is closed during the winter months. Rentals are daily, weekly or monthly.
