Campgrounds in Lake City, Minnesota

Lake City, Minnesota, overlooks a wide portion of the Mississippi River known as Lake Pepin. Because of this lake, many of the events and sights to see in Lake City are water-related. Four campgrounds in or within 10 miles of Lake City have at least some camping sites close to the waters of Lake Pepin and the Mississippi River.
  1. Hok-Si-La Municipal Park and Campground

    • Hok-Si-La is a tent-only campground.

      Hok-Si-La Campground is one part of a 252-acre park owned by Lake City. All of the 42 sites are for tent camping only, and eight of those are for groups. Nine sites offer a view of Lake Pepin. The campground and park share a swimming beach and a public boat-launching area. The showers and bathrooms are close to the swimming beach. The park office and interpretive center is the place to find information about the history of the park and surrounding area. Sports equipment for use in the horseshoe pit or the basketball or volleyball court may be checked out here. The park store, located in the same building, offers camping supplies. Hiking trails crisscross the park. The campground is open for camping from the middle of April to the middle of October.

    Lake Pepin Campgrounds and Mobile Home Park

    • Sites are for RVs only at Lake Pepin Campgrounds.

      This campground, which also has spots for year-round mobile homes, contains 43 pull-through sites for RVs and trailers. The sites have sewer, water and electric hookups. The campground has a bathhouse with flush toilets and shower stalls. There are no tent sites. The campground is not open during the winter season.

    Camp Lacupolis Fishing Resort and Campground

    • Camp Lacupolis Fishing Resort and Campground is near Lake City.

      This fishing resort and campground is nine miles south of Lake City. The campground is on a point of land separated from the resort cabins by the office and coffee shop and the road leading to the boat launch. Guests can rent a boat and motor at the office. A fish-cleaning building is available for cleaning the day's catch.

    • About six miles north along the shore from Lake City is Frontenac State Park.

      About six miles north along the shore from Lake City is Frontenac State Park. Like all of Minnesota's state parks, Frontenac has a campground. There are 58 drive-in sites for RVs and trailers and six cart-in sites for those wishing to pitch a tent. A group camp site has a maximum limit of 35 campers. Throughout the winter, five sites, three with electrical hookups, are maintained for camping. For recreation, the park has both summer and winter trails.
