Southwest Minnesota Campgrounds

Although many of the popular campgrounds in Minnesota are along the large lakes in the northern and central parts of the state, southwest Minnesota also has its camping attractions. An advantage to staying in this area includes access to Interstate 90 for campers who are traveling across the country. Two campgrounds also provide great fishing opportunities at the largest lake in the region, Lake Shetek.
  1. Lake Shetek State Park

    • Lake Shetek State Park lies on the southeastern shore of the largest lake in the southwestern corner of Minnesota. A popular destination for fishermen, the park includes a 45-acre island on Lake Shetek that offers an interpretive trail and that can be accessed by foot along a causeway. The campground has 97 sites that can be reached by vehicle, including 66 with electrical connections that can handle RVs up to 60 feet. Lake Shetek State Park also offers a group camping site that can accommodate up to 30 people, as well as enclosed picnic shelters, a swimming beach, a playground and a fishing pier.
