Ely, Minnesota Campgrounds

Ely, located in northeastern Minnesota, is one of the state's gateway cities into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), one million federally managed acres of the Superior National Forest that reaches into Ontario, Canada, as Quetico Provincial Park. The BWCAW requires visitors to obtain a permit and it is recommended that first-time visitors discuss the details of their trip with an outfitter. The BWCAW is untamed wilderness and a visit requires careful preparation. Ely also offers guests the opposite experience, relaxing at one of many luxurious resorts. Ely's downtown has an array of shops and restaurants sure to please any traveler including a state-renowned outfitter of mukluks.
