Sand Dunes Campgrounds in Michigan

Michigan is home to approximately 250,000 acres of duneland, the largest assemblage of freshwater dunes in the world, according the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. These environmental features provide sand as a natural resource, critical wildlife habitat and popular tourist destinations. Some of the state's duneland is privately owned, and other land has been preserved as parkland by the state or federal government. Campgrounds at, or nearby, public dunes allow for more tourists to visit the parks.
