The Platte River Campground, open year-round, is located within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and is operated by the National Park Service (NPS). Platte River is the park's most popular campground and is often filled to capacity from the start of summer until Labor Day. Some sites can be reserved, and others are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsites at Platte River accommodate both RVs and tent campers. For RV convenience, the campground has pull-through and back-in sites, electrical hookups and a dump station, along with typical tent sites. Hike-in tent sites are available to those who want to experience more rustic and secluded camping. Campground amenities include a potable water station, water spigots throughout the park, modern restrooms and showers.
