Public Campgrounds in Cherokee Lake, Tennessee

Cherokee Lake is a reservoir near Morristown, Virginia. The lake was formed when the Holston River was dammed for flood control and hydroelectric generation between August 1, 1940 and December 5, 1941. Cherokee Lake boasts a surface area of almost 29,000 square acres and approximately 400 miles of shoreline. The water level can fluctuate nearly 30 feet in a typical year.
  1. Panther Creek State Park

    • Panther Creek has 50 campsites available on a first-come, first-serve basis with water and electrical hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, grills, a coin laundry facility, and two bathhouse facilities. Both facilities include toilets and showers. A dump station for trailer rigs also serves visiting campers. Visitors may not stay longer than two weeks at a time.

    Greenlee Campground

    • Seasonal campsites offers seasonal campsites and short-term campsites with water and electrical hookups. Other amenities include a sand beach, boat launch ramp, dumping station, propane filling station, camp store, snack bar, coin laundry, and pavilion for reunions or other get-togethers. Visitors can also rent boats or cabins.
