Grand Isle is located on South Hero Island and is in close proximity to Vermont's largest city, Burlington. With more than 150 camping sites, Grand Isle State Park is the largest state park in Vermont. While the campground can accommodate RVs, hook-ups are not available. Rest rooms with running water and hot showers, however, are available on-site. Campground activities include swimming, fishing, boating, volleyball, horseshoes and nature walking. Grand Isle has over three-quarters of a mile of Lake Champlain shoreline, contributing to its status as the most visited campground in the state park system. Chazy Reef, the world's oldest fossil reef, is located near the campground.

Button Bay State Park is located in Ferrisburgh near Fort Ticonderoga. Notable historical figures known to have visited the area of what is now a state park are Samuel De Champlain in 1609, Ethan Allen and Benjamin Franklin in 1776, and Benedict Arnold in 1777. Campground amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, dump station, swimming pool with lifeguards and a large picnic area. Activities on the campground include boating, swimming and hiking. The campground overlooks the lake and has a view of the Adirondack mountains.

D.A.R. State Park is located in Addison, on the shoreline of Lake Champlain. Campers enjoy the large, open site that has amenities such as flush toilets, hot showers, a picnic area, a stone pavilion and a dump station. Campground activities include swimming, boating, fishing and sailing. D.A.R. Points of interest near the state park include Chimney Point, University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, Fort Ticonderoga and Mount Independence.

Half Moon Pond State Park is located in Hubbardton and is close to the Revolutionary War's Hubbardton Battlefield. The campground has 63 campsites that surround Half Moon Pond. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. Campground activities include hiking, limited swimming and fishing. There's a variety of wildlife in the area of the campground's vast trail system, so hikers may see white-tailed deer and moose as they explore the wilderness. Half Moon Pond State Park is close to the Wilson Castle, Morgan Horse Farm, Lake Champlain Ferries and Devil's Bowl Speedway
