RV Private Campgrounds on Lake Champlain, New York

Lake Champlain extends roughly 120 miles from its southern source near Whitehall, New York, to its northern outlet at the Richelieu River in southern Quebec. For most of its length, the lake forms the boundary between the states of Vermont and New York. Much of the New York side of the lake lies within Adirondack Park.

    • This seasonal 130-site campground is located along the banks of the Little Ausable River, less than a mile from Lake Champlain. The campground's boat dock allows RVers with canoes, kayaks or rowboats to launch at the campground and quickly reach the open waters of the lake; rental canoes, kayaks and paddleboats are available. Full hookups, including cable TV, are provided at all sites in the campground, which is open from May through October. Other amenities include an outdoor swimming pool; horseshoe pits; showers; restrooms; propane service; recreation hall; badminton, basketball and volleyball courts; and high-speed Internet access.

    Plattsburgh RV Park

    • RVers who park their rigs at this 170-site campground are within walking distance of Lake Champlain. Full hookups are available at most sites. A few sites with no hookups are reserved for tent camping. The park also offers seven log cabins for rent. Other park amenities include a clubhouse, seasonal outdoor swimming pool, fishing pond, bathrooms, showers, miniature golf, volleyball, shuffleboard and horseshoes. The park posts daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal rates.

    Shady Oaks RV Parks

    • Only ½ mile from Lake Champlain, this seasonal, 161-site RV park is in Plattsburgh, about 20 miles south of the Canadian border. The park is open to RV campers from May 1 to mid-October. Full hookups, including cable TV, are available at all sites; a few of which are pull-throughs. Other amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access, playground, convenience store, biking and hiking trails, restrooms, showers and basketball court. The park can accommodate larger rigs and posts daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal rates.

    Iroquois Campground and RV Park

    • This shaded 190-site campground, located between Interstate 87 and U.S. Highway 9 in Peru, New York, provides full hookups at all of its sites, several of which are pull-throughs. Lake Champlain is only a short distance from the campground. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, recreation hall, convenience store, planned activities, showers, restrooms, game room, shuffleboard, gated entry, fishing pond and tetherball. Daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal rates are posted. The campground is open from May 1 to Oct. 1.
