The Catskills is a region in New York within the counties of Otsego, Delaware, Sullivan, Schoharie, Greene, and Ulster. The area has more than 98 peaks and covers approximately 4,000 square miles. The Catskills region is a popular destination for campers, as there are almost 70 different campgrounds to choose from.

  1. Beaver Spring Lake Campground

    • The Beaver Spring Lake Campground is located near Oneonta and Cooperstown and offers many amenities, which include boating and fishing, scheduled family-friendly activities such as hay wagon rides, potluck campfire cookouts, bingo and craft classes. Local tourist attractions include the Butterfly Museum, Baseball Wax Museum, Iroquois Indian Museum and the Cooperstown Fun Park. The campsites are roomy and have water and electric hookups, with laundry and shower facilities. RV and cabin rentals have a two-night minimum stay requirement. Reservations can be made online.

    Doherty's Campground

    • Doherty's Campground is located in Acra, near the Windham High Peak and Acra Point. The campground offers 100 campsites with electric and water hookups; some also have sewer hookups. In addition, the campground has bathrooms with pay showers, a swimming pool, coin-operated laundry facility, on-site general store, picnic tables, horseshoe pits, basketball court, recreation hall and playground. Popular area attractions include whitewater rafting in Catskill Creek, golfing at the Thunderheart Golf Course, hiking, swimming and fishing in Rockefeller Lake and underground cavern tours at Howe Caverns.

    Monagup Pond State Campground

    • Monagup Pond State Campground is located in Livingston Manor in northeastern Sullivan County, on a 120-acre lake. There are 163 large campsites for tents and trailers with electric and water hookups, and the campground includes showers, picnic tables with grills, a sand beach, rowboat and canoe rentals, nature program with children's activities and hiking trails. The Catskill Fish Hatchery is three miles from the campground. Area attractions include an amusement park and ski area at Holiday Mountain, Monticello Raceway, Minisink Battleground Memorial Park and the Sullivan County Historical Museum.     Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Birchwood Acres

    • Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Birchwood Acres, located in Greenfield Park in Ulster County, has 128 RV sites, 80 campsites and 61 rental units--including luxury trailer rentals and cabins. Campsites include water hookups, and RV sites include water and electric hookups. Amenities include showers, three swimming pools (including a family spray pool), rowboat and paddleboat rentals, fireplaces, softball, basketball, shuffleboard, paddleball, shuffleboard, tennis and horseshoes. Children can meet Yogi Bear and Boo Boo during special events, and daily family activities include crafts, ceramics, bingo and scavenger hunts. Reservations can be made online.
