Campgrounds in Trinity River, Texas

The Texas Trinity River is almost 710 miles long and has three main branches: East Fork, Elm Fork and the West Fork. While the river flows through the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metropolitan area, it also flows through less populated areas and provides camping and other recreations opportunities. Parts of the Trinity River are famous for white-water rafting, with rapids that attract rafters from all over. In addition to river rafting, there are opportunities for canoeing, fishing, swimming and kayaking.
  1. Lake Livingston State Park

    • Lake Livingston State Park, located in Polk County, offers 161 RV and tent sites, some with full hook-ups and water views. A group picnic pavilion, which can accommodate up to 50 people at a time, is also available. Other park amenities include a swimming pool, amphitheater, restrooms and showers, as well as fish cleaning shelters, playgrounds, boat ramps and a seasonal park store. Activities to enjoy in this area are hiking, mountain biking, nature study, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and boating. Nearby are a bowling alley, a golf course, the Polk County Library and Museum and the NASA Space Center Houston.

    Wolf Creek

    • Wolf Creek Park, located in the Piney Woods region of Texas, has a total of 153 campsites, some with full hook-ups, some with water and electricity and some with just water. Park amenities also include restrooms with hot showers, fish cleaning facilities, a marina and a grocery shop for all the boating and fishing needs. The park provides a boat ramp, playground for kids, basketball court and a volleyball court. The main activities are fishing, swimming, hiking and boating. It is also very close to a golf course and the town of Coldspring where one can enjoy authentic folk arts and crafts.

    Harmon Creek RV Park and Marina

    • Located just outside of Huntsville, at the northwest corner of the Trinity River System, the Harmon Creek RV Park and Marina offers tent and RV camping as well as cabin rentals. The 21 shaded tent sites have electricity and water, while the 15 RV sites have metered 20/30/50 amp electric service, plus water and sewer hook-ups. Other accommodations include five cabins with self-sufficient kitchens, private shower and bathroom and satellite TV. Pets are welcome, but only in the tent and RV sites. The park has picnic tables, fire rings and a swimming pool. Guests can also park their boats right at their tent sites, all of which have a waterfront view. Things to do in the area range from boating, swimming and fishing, to hiking and bird watching. Nearby attractions include the Texas Prison Museum, the H.E.A.R.T.S Veterans Museum and the Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Park Complex.
