Eastern Tennessee offers many places for a visitor to stay. Those looking for rural lodging nestled within nature and beside some of Tennessee's best lakes can choose from 12 lakes that have campgrounds near them.
  1. Card'nal Cove Resort

    • Located in Rutledge, Tenn., Card'nal Cove Resort brings southern values and hospitality to its campgrounds. The Cherokee Lake is the point of destination here. With rates beginning at $20 a night for tent camping and going up to $95 a night for cabin rentals, as of March 17, 2010, the campground offers a variety of lodging. The resort also offers boat rentals, dock services and is an agent for those seeking fishing licenses. There is also a pool, a pavilion and a restaurant. It is also a motorcycle-friendly campground.

    Greenlee Campground, RV and Marine

    • This RV-friendly campground has three locations throughout eastern Tennessee, but the original location is in Rutledge right beside Cherokee Lake. As of March 17, 2010, nightly rates begin at $25 for a family of four. The rates increase to $70 a night for the camp's five cabins. The camp also has monthly and seasonal rates. Cabins come with a full kitchen and bathroom, heat and air, a porch and cable television. For more rustic campers, the camp has water and electric hookups, a coin laundry, snack bar and camp store. For those who want to get out on the lake, but who don't have a boat, the camp offers two pontoons to rent at rates that begin at $30 a hour, as of March 17, 2010.

    Hickory Star Marina and Campground

    • When visiting Norris Lake in Maynardville, Tenn., the best campground to stay at is the Hickory Star Marina and Campground. The campground offers RV and tent sites and also offers an inn or vacation cabins. Rates are not available online, but can be requested by phoning or e-mailing the campground. The camp has 80 RV sites with full hook-ups, electricity, water and sewage facilities. Five tent sites come with water facilities only. Both RV and tent sites are near the camp pool available to all who stay. There is also a restaurant within the Hickory Star Village, named Pete's Place, that serves good, fast food in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere and is conveniently located near the inn, camp sites and lake.
