The Best Campgrounds in Central Florida

Central Florida is one of the most visited regions in the country because of the pleasant year-round weather and attractions at Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios. While there are thousands of hotel rooms in this area, some of the best campgrounds in Central Florida are in close proximity to these popular tourist attractions. Staying in a Central Florida campground can be cheaper and more entertaining than spending your vacation in traditional accommodations.
  1. Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort

    • The Disney World Resort boasts its own campground, featuring back-to-nature lodging plus a variety of on-site amenities and activities. Located near the Magic Kingdom theme park, Fort Wilderness offers four types of campsites from the basic tent site to premium sites with all the bells and whistles. For those who like to camp but would rather have four walls, this resort offers guest cabins that can sleep up to six people.

Besides being so close to the Disney theme parks, Fort Wilderness features plenty of outdoor action, including horseback riding, boat, bike or golf cart rentals, fishing, a petting zoo, a beach and two outdoor heated pools. The surrounding area is woodsy and welcoming and feels nothing like the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort.
