The Morrison-Rockwood State Park in the northwest part of Illinois consists of 1,164 acres and is named for the city of Morrison as well as nearby Rock Creek. The state park was originally for day use only, but now includes 92 overnight camping sites in forested areas. These sites, which are for tents and RVs, feature electricity, grills and picnic tables. A shower building with flush toilets is open from May 1 until Oct. 31 and the park also has a dump station near the camping sites. It also has an area for hunting, a boat ramp, over three miles of hiking trails, a 14-mile trail for horses and a concession store with boat rentals and bait sales.
