Private RV Campgrounds in West Virginia

In addition to the large campgrounds at public recreational areas like Canaan Valley Resort, Beech Fork State Park and Monongahela National Forest, the state of West Virginia is home to a number of private campgrounds designed for recreational vehicles. Found near some of the state's most popular tourist destinations, these campgrounds also provide activities on-site to keep travelers of all ages entertained.   1. Pegasus Farm Campground

    • Pegasus Farm Campground is in Elkins, a community to the west of the Monongahela National Forest and known for its American Mountain Theater, which hosts live events year-round. The campground is large enough to accommodate 17 recreational vehicles. Sites are on gravel, and a few offer pull-through access. The largest lots measure 40 by 100 feet and are suited for big rigs as well as recreational vehicles. A dozen of the campsites have full electric, gas and water hookups, and the remaining five offer water and electricity only. A sewage dump is located on-site. Free wireless Internet is available throughout the campground. For campers' convenience, the facility has showers and restrooms and sells firewood. Pegasus Pond is situated on the property for freshwater fishing. Sunflower fields border the park, and travelers can enjoy the grass maze and horseshoe pits. Horses are welcome at the campground, and trails wind through the camp for riding.

    Huntington-Fox Fire KOA

    • Located in Milton, Huntington-Fox Fire KOA is just 15 miles from the city of Huntington, home to attractions such as the Museum of Radio & Technology and the Mountain State Mystery Train. In addition to cabins and camping sites, Huntington-Fox Fire features 111 RV sites, more than half of which are pull-through. All of the sites are 30 feet in width and between 55 to 90 feet in length. Every spot at the KOA has full electric, water and sewage hookups, and has a picnic table and fire-ring for campers. Wireless Internet is provided free of charge. Restrooms, showers, a laundry facility, a camper wash and a waste dump are provided. A small store at the campground sells basic groceries, snacks, RV supplies, propane and firewood. A man-made swimming and fishing lake is located at the camp. Bicycle rentals, kids' craft classes, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, a playground and movie nights are among the recreational activities offered by the campground.

    Harman Mountain Farm Campground

    • A private campground maintained by a local Mennonite Church, Harman Mountain Farm Campground is 15 miles from Seneca Rock, a popular West Virginia tourist destination. The campground has 10 recreational vehicle campsites with water and electric hookups. On-site amenities include restrooms, showers, a waste dump, telephones and free firewood. For recreation, the campground has hiking trails, an 18-hole miniature golf course, campfire pits, shuffleboard courts and basketball and volleyball courts.
