The Wytheville KOA received the 2009 President's Award from Kampgrounds of America Inc. The campground, which is located in the Alleghany and Blue Ridge Mountains, sits near the Thomas J. Boyd Museum, the Haller-Gibboney Rock House Museum, Jefferson National Forest and Big Walker Lookout. The campground has 111 sites for recreational vehicle (RV) and tent camping. Most RV sites have water and electrical hookups. You can get cable TV and wireless Internet at the RV sites. The campground also rents out one and two bedroom cabins. The facility offers different amenities for families, such as an outdoor swimming pool with a slide, batting cages, a dog-walking area, a miniature golf course, a snack bar, a store with supplies and groceries, a horseshoe pit, basketball and volleyball courts, a shuffleboard court, nature trails, a playground and a game room with video games. It also has planned group activities, such as scavenger hunts.

The Lake Ridge RV Resort is located in the town of Hillsville, within the Blue Ridge Mountains. The campground sits close to the Hillsville downtown historic district, the Carroll County Historical Museum, Mabry Mill and New River Trail State Park. At the camping resort, families will find a fishing pond with a dock, two outdoor swimming pools with water slides, a miniature golf course, a rec room with a space for dancing, a kayak and paddleboat-rental service, a dog-walking area, hiking trails, basketball and tetherball courts, a game room, a horseshoe pit, pavilion areas with picnic tables, a café and a store with supplies and groceries. The campground also offers planned activities, such as hayrides, craft-making sessions, fishing tournaments, live musical acts, theme parties, scavenger hunts, and tie-die sessions. The camping resort has 221 sites for RV and tent camping. Many of the RV sites come with water, electrical and sewer connections. The campground rents out cabins with accommodations for four to eight people. The cabins come with grills, fire pits and picnic tables. Claytor State Park is located in Dublin, near the Newbern historic district. The park is home to Claytor Lake and features a fish cleaning area, a boat-rental service, a dock, a boat launch area and marina. The marina has a meeting room, where people can host business meetings or weddings. Other amenities at the park include hiking trails, pavilion areas with picnic tables and grills, a snack shop, a playground and a horseshoe pit. The campground has 110 sites for RV and tent camping. RV sites come with water and electrical connections. The campground rents out two and three bedroom cabins and six bedroom lodges. The cabins and lodges have kitchens with appliances, living rooms with dining areas and fireplaces. Some of the cabins and lodges also have porches or picnic tables and grills.
