Eagle’s Roost Campground is located just south of Roanoke on Smith Mountain Lake. Shaded RV sites include electrical and water hookups. Tent sites also are available. Amenities include three dump stations, canoe rentals, sand beach, boat rentals and bath houses. Throughout the camping season, a number of events are hosted on the grounds, including pot luck dinners, karaoke nights and holiday celebrations. Pets are welcome on leashes. Reservations are required. Short-term and seasonal rates are available.

Lakeridge RV Resort is near Roanoke, in the town of Hillsville. The campground offers RV sites that include water, sewer and electrical hookups. Some sites include a concrete parking pad as well. Tent sites and cabins also are available. Visit the resort three times and your fourth visit is free. Campers have access to a number of amenities, including a mini-golf course, tether ball, camp store, café, basketball courts, game room, two swimming pools, kayaks, paddle boats, picnic shelter and playground. Planned activities frequently take place, such as hay rides, crafts, boat races and themed events.

Middle Creek Campground is located to the northeast of Roanoke off of Interstate 81. RV sites with full hookups are available in addition to tent sites and cabin rentals. Visitors can take advantage of the snack bar, basketball courts, grassy recreation area, propane refill station, picnic shelter, playground, dump station and swimming pool. Two fish ponds on-site are stocked with trout. Numerous outdoor recreational opportunities exist nearby, including hiking on the Appalachian Trail and biking in the Jefferson National Forest. Holiday events, craft projects and movie nights are just some of the many planned activities hosted by the campground.
