Huntsville, Alabama, is located in the mountains of the Tennessee Valley, near the Tennessee border. It offers visitors boating, fishing, swimming and camping, along the Tennessee River and Lake Guntersville. The campground features 100 RV sites with bath, shower and laundry facilities; a full-service marina with boat storage and launch ramps; a playground; and biking and hiking trails. The facility has electric and water connections, but no sewer connections. Ditto Landing does not offer campsites that are right on the water, but campers are a short walk away from the swimming, fishing and boating areas. Ditto Landing has a grocery store, where you can purchase camp supplies, and the facility is located about three miles from a Wal-Mart supercenter, a Ruby Tuesday's and several fast-food restaurants.

Reaching Monte Sano State Park requires that you drive up a steep grade to Monte Sano Mountain; however, the drive is well worth it, as the park offers views from the highest point in Huntsville. The state park features 89 RV sites with electric, water and sewer connections. Many of the sites are pull-through, for large RVs. Monte Sano State Park includes amenities like bath, shower and laundry facilities; two playgrounds; and hiking and biking trails. Some of the hiking trails take you near waterfalls and scenic overlooks. Monte Sano State Park is located about five miles from several grocery stores, fast-food restaurants and a hospital.

Camping in space is possible at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Campground in Huntsville. The campground is on the grounds of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, and it offers campers quick access to the space museum and its many rides, movies and exhibits. The campground only features 27 RV sites, but amenities include bath and shower facilities and wireless Internet. Campers can leave their RVs to view famous NASA rockets, planes and spacecrafts that are on display outside the museum. The campground is located about three miles from University Drive in Huntsville, which features restaurants, a mall, grocery stores and a movie theater.
