Campgrounds in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia

Rising 900 feet over the North Fork River in Eastern West Virginia, Seneca Rocks is one of the state's most well-known landmarks and a rock-climber's paradise. The rocks are nestled within the Monongahela National Forest, near hiking and biking trails and other recreational opportunities. You can choose from four campgrounds within 15 miles of Seneca Rocks, including two that are within walking distance of the shadow of the massive rock formation.
  1. Seneca Shadows

    • Many of the campsites at Seneca Shadows Campground have views of Seneca Rocks; likewise, you can see the campground from the summit. Additionally, since it’s in Monongahela National Forest, you can explore some of the nearby hiking trails, fishing spots and scenic roadways that are characteristic of the Potomac Highlands area. Because of its proximity to the rocks, rock climbers and hikers frequently use Seneca Shadows as a base camp. You can expect to find flush toilets, posts for lanterns and campfire rings on-site, as well as an amphitheater, firewood for sale and showers. Seneca Shadows has 81 campsites, including tent campsites, RV sites and group campsites.

    Princess Snowbird's Indian Village

    • Yokum's Vacationland is located just 1 mile from Seneca Rocks and includes attractions such as Yokum's Stables, where you can saddle up to take a trail ride to the summit of Seneca Rocks. The resort is made up of a motel, rental cabins and a campground nestled in its Princess Snowbird’s Indian Village. The campground has 50 sites for RVs and 150 tent sites, all located near restrooms with showers. The sites can accommodate tents, pop-ups, campers and motor homes. Alternatively, you can rent one of Yokum's Indian teepees, which have overhead lighting and an electrical outlet, or bunk houses which can accommodate 11 to 17 people, making them ideal for groups.

    Smoke Hole Caverns and Log Cabin Resort

    • Explore the Smoke Hole Caverns, which the Seneca Indians once used to smoke game. The on-site resort offers guided tours of the caverns, motorcycle tours of the area and guided fishing and hunting trips. Smoke Hole Caverns and Log Cabin Resort, which is approximately 1 1/2 miles from Seneca Rocks, has a motel, cabin rentals and an RV campground. The back-in sites are roomy enough to accommodate big rigs; each site has water, sewer, cable television and 30- or 50-amp electric service at every site. The campground is smoke-free and doesn't allow pets.

    Camping at the Grove

    • Camping at the Grove is located roughly 15 miles from Seneca Rocks in Cherry Grove in the picturesque North Fork Valley. It's situated on 20 acres of land surrounded by Monongahela National Forest, near the Summit Observation Tower at Spruce Mountain, which is the highest point in the state. Camping at the Grove's year-round campground is open for tent and RV camping, with electric, water and sewer hookups as well as wireless Internet. On-site amenities include restrooms with showers and a pet-friendly policy. In addition to daily rates, the campground also offers monthly and yearly rates for long-term campers.
