The Best Campgrounds in Greer, Arizona

Nestled within the White Mountain region of Arizona and in close proximity to the Apache National Forest, the community of Greer and the surrounding area is a popular vacation destination the boasts a wide array of outdoor recreational activities including hiking, fishing, horseback riding and mountain biking. Greer has a higher elevation, which provides a cool, breezy respite from Southwestern summers. If you are planning on a camping trip near Greer, there are several reputable campgrounds.

  1. Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground

    • Two miles north of Greer on State Highway 373, the Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground offers campsites as well as parking and a dump site for RVs. Each campsite has a grill and a picnic table and communal showers are available. The Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground is close to Greer lakes and the Little Colorado River and is convenient for trout fishing and hiking. There are 100 available campsites available, and the campgrounds are open from May until September.

    Benny Creek Campground

    • Benny Creek Campground is located 3 miles north of Greer on State Highway 373 and is a good place to go if the Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground is full. Convenient to the Greer Lakes as well as the Bunch Reservoir, Benny Creek Campground has 24 campsites all equipped with grills and picnic tables. Benny Creek has bathrooms but no showers, however, campers are allowed to use the showers at the neighboring Rolfe C. Hoyer Campground. Benny Creek Campground also is convenient for trout fishing and hiking and is open from May until September.

    Gabaldon Horse Campground

    • If you would like to bring your horse with you for some horseback riding in the Mountains or are traveling though the area with farm animals, the Gabaldon Horse Campground is located 11 miles south of Greer on State highway 273. Gabaldon Horse Campground has five campsites, each with a corral. Each site is also equipped with a grill and a picnic table and communal restrooms are centrally located. Trout fishing is available in the nearby Lee Valley Reservoir. Gabaldon Horse Campground is open from June until September.
