Kayenta, Arizona RV Campgrounds

The scenic town of of Kayenta is a road-trip stop for visitors on their way to the Grand Canyon. There are no RV parks in the town, but there are some lovely campgrounds nearby that allow visitors to enjoy the Kayenta area. Kayenta is the gateway to Monument Valley and lies along the route to Arizona's many scenic destinations. Located on the Navajo Reservation, Kayenta is only 20 miles from the Utah border and its main attraction is nearby Navajo National Monument. First settled by Quaker families in 1909, the town was established as a cross road to enable travel across the northern Navajo reservation. Visitors to Kayenta can view sandstone and volcanic formations called El Capitan, Black Rock and Church Rock. RV travelers should call ahead to ensure campground availability in the area.
  1. Sunset View Campground

      Sunset View Campground is a peaceful first-come campground open all year. Located west of Kayenta, Arizona, on U.S. 160, the campground is on the Navajo National Monument and is part of the National Park Service. The campground is free and located in a lovely area of the park. No fires are permitted. There are no hookups and RVs are limited to 28 feet or less. There are restrooms and running water available for visitors. Visitors who need more specific directions should call ahead and speak to the Navajo National Park Service.

    Canyon View Campground

      Canyon View Campground is also located in Navajo National Monument. It is in a beautiful area that is much more primitive with few turnarounds. The campground is located on an unpaved road a 1/10th of a mile from the visitor center. Three of the 16 sites are good for group camping. These larger sites can be reserved by calling ahead. There are no hookups. The simple site has composting toilets, charcoal grills, and water is available a the Sunsest View campground. Not appropriate for large RVs, visitors who need more information about RV accommodations and specific directions to the park should call ahead and speak to the Navajo National Park Service.

    Goulding's Campground

      Gouldings Campground is located just over the border in Utah and is within driving distance to Kayenta and the Navajo National Monument. It is a good hub for enjoying the sites around Kayenta while still having a place to hookup the RV. The site has full RV hookups, 50-amp service, wireless Internet access, a heated indoor pool, laundry facilities, hot showers and shuttle vans to take campers into the town of Gouldings for dining.
