Four Main Regions of China's Central Plains

The Central Plains cover most of eastern China, divided into four regions:

1. North China Plain

Yellow River basin; fertile soil; wheat, corn, cotton; major cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang.

2. South China Plain

Yangtze River basin; subtropical; rice, wheat, tea; major cities: Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen.

3. Northeastern China (Three Northeastern Provinces)

Cold climate; heavy industry; coal, iron ore, timber; major cities: Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin.

4. Southwestern China (Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau)

Rugged, mountainous; ethnic minorities; rice, corn, potatoes; major cities: Kunming, Guiyang, Chengdu.

Each region differs in climate, geography, agriculture, and natural resources.
