What is a congresional district?

A congressional district is a geographical area that elects a single representative to the United States House of Representatives. There are currently 435 congressional districts in the United States, each of which elects one representative for a two-year term.

The boundaries of congressional districts are determined by the state legislatures, and they are redrawn every ten years following the census to ensure that each district has approximately the same population. The process of redistricting is highly political, and it can have a significant impact on the balance of power in the House of Representatives.

In order to be eligible to vote in a congressional election, you must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, and a resident of the congressional district. You can register to vote at your local election board or online.

Congressional elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even-numbered years.
