Liechtenstein is a small, doubly landlocked country in the Alps, bordered by Switzerland to the west and south and by Austria to the east and north. It is located on the Rhine River, north of the Alps and south of the Black Forest mountain range. Liechtenstein is 160 km (99 mi) from east to west and 20 km (12 mi) from north to south, with a total land area of 160 square kilometres (62 sq mi).
