Which Southeast Asian countries did the US used to control?

The Philippines:

The US acquired the Philippines from Spain in 1898 after the Spanish-American War ending the Spanish colonial era. The US ruled the country until 1946, when the Philippines gained its independence.

Guam:

Guam was ceded to the US by Spain in the 1898 Treaty of Paris. It remains a US territory.

Wake Island:

Wake Island was claimed by the US in 1899 and formally annexed in 1914. During World War II, it was occupied by Japan, but was retaken by the US in 1945. It is currently an unincorporated US territory.
