Are There Deserts in Punjab, Pakistan?

No Deserts in Punjab

Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous and agriculturally rich province, is not a desert region. Its landscape is dominated by:

  • Flat, fertile alluvial plains (Indus River system).
  • Extensive irrigation canal network (world’s largest).
  • Subtropical climate with monsoon rains.

True deserts in Pakistan lie to the west and south: Cholistan (Rohi) in southern Punjab border, Thar in Sindh, Kharan in Balochistan. Punjab itself is the country’s breadbasket.
