Where is Death Valley?

Death Valley, officially known as Death Valley National Park, is located in the Mojave Desert in Eastern California, near the border with Nevada in the Western United States. It's about 6 hours’ drive (2-2½ hours from Bakersfield, 2½-3 hours from Las Vegas) northeast of Los Angeles. Within the national park lie Death Valley, the hottest, driest place in North America, as well as Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America at 282 feet (86 m) below sea level. It also holds the record for the highest temperature ever recorded on Earth—134 °F (56.7 °C)—which was recorded on July 10, 1913, at Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley.
